Some people play Second Age without posting on the forums.Zorce wrote:11 posts in all and 3 of them are in this thread. It is obvious you haven't really connected with the players or even made known who you are. I am sure you would have more fun getting to know everyone. I haven't interacted much ingame my self but keep up in the discussions which keep things interesting for me.
Start chars from scratch, That is always fun and a must since you deleted them. Hope you find the interest to come back. I can tell you that there is not another era accurate shard like this one.
Good luck

I think much of the PvP problem is a very low PvP population. Back in the day it WAS challenging to kill someone 1 on 1 who knew what they were doing. Field fights and synching to drop people was the standard by which guilds were judged.

There is enough pvp to go around, I've been constantly pvping for hours. Just have to roam around and seek it out.

The reason why Divinity is almost dead is not because it's not era accurate.Faust wrote:Both are neither Pre:UOR servers.
What are the numbers on their Pre:UOR servers?![]()
Thanks,

It's because the staff has made too many changes too quickly and has made changes that do not make the game fun.
Like right now on Divinity it's impossible to find forces, powers and vanqs. They thought that was the solution to the problem they created which was too many vanqs. They just don't know how to run that shard.
UO:Gamers hybrid is different, it's got different GM's.
But both shards suck, especially Hybrid.
IPY was a good shard though, even though it was a bit different it was fun and had amazing population till the day it died. 800+. It saw 1000's on even.

Re: I resign from this server.
Yeah, Hybrid got old after awhile. Nothing worse than a dexxer who runs around with a billion AR and a valorite vanq runic spear and GM alchemy which exp pots then do 25 damage. I remember it was me and four of my guildies against this one dexxer and we coudn't land one hit, we were doing series of 1hp. I barely got out alive but my whole crew died. Soon after that I left because I was sick of all the dumb crap and super duper geared up equips that made you literally invincible.

Umm, I followed IPY for the last few months until it died... It was down to 200 clients on average hitting a peak of 300 roughly every now and then. The last day only hit high numbers because of the closure from old players hitting it up for one last time. The average clients is even recorded in the wayback machine's internet archives on the web sites that tracked shard clients at that time. Just because the shard started out in the thousands doesn't mean it lasted like that until the very last day.
I know plenty of Divinity players that quit because the PVP was crap and not even close to the era it was representing. Hell, there are numerous threads on the forums still where people were pissed off about it not being accurate. It is true that some of the "quakers" left over from IPY that played Divinity populated that server making it into the sink hole that it is today.
All this can be argued up and down with no end result, so it doesn't really matter when its all said and done.
The simple fact that clearly remains is that all shards that decide to customize their game mechanics the way you are asking end up dying or losing a substantial amount of their playerbase. UO Second Age is the only server in the history of Ultima Online emulation that has increased to the elite status of all major Pre:UOR servers starting at an average client average of 10. The rest of the major shards mentioned above started with 500+ from the very first day.
That when things are said and done will remain since it's a given fact.
Re: I resign from this server.
I still enjoy them though, I mean hell I played UO:Renaissance and publish 16.
Even Divinity with it's fast paced, high speed hallies/katanas/harm fest. That wasn't as bad as UOR and publish 16 pvp.
I just enjoyed them for what they were.
I like UOSA's pvp a lot don't get me wrong, but I'm all about getting things more accurate as well. And I believe we can't stop here, we must seek further information. Sometimes resist seems too powerful on this shard and hallies will hit for like 2-3 damage at times.
I know everyone has high resist, but spells are sometimes bunk lol. Heal is really good, so is gheal. So if spell dmg was alittle more consistant then I think pvp would overall be better. Dexer suits seem to completely null hally damage. It's insane, try hitting someone in a gm dexer suit with a hally with gm swords and 0 anat.

Re: I resign from this server.
Problem with uosa pvp; it's inconsistent it's basically about 100% luck as to whether you can even touch someone during a fight no matter how skilled you are people can just luck out all the time, no 100% rupts, stupid ranges on weapons and spells this leads to lack of quality guilds and less competition etc
tbh that's the one reason I don't play here and pvp anymore. No competition in field since +- went because they all thought the system sucked

Re: I resign from this server.
Virtue,
Spell damage is based on the t2a Stratics '99 web site that matches up perfectly with the decompiled demo code.
Weapon damage is based on the t2a Stratics '99 web site. This doesn't match up with the demo because of a change to the weapon table after the last demo decompilation that has been documented. There is no reason to believe the table we use from the t2a Stratics '99 web site is incorrect since the table used in the demo matches up with the same table listed on Stratic's prior to the one we are using now.
The resist formula we use here was also stripped from the t2a Stratics '99 web site too. The same formula is also used in the demo code as well. There are numerous differences between the UOR version that most of the shards you are used to compared to the one used during the t2a era. For example, ebolt has a 54% chance to be resisted at GM resist during this era when it was roughly around 24% during the UOR and post eras after it. The reason for this change was because the UOR era mages had to become more powerful with mage only abilities since they were stripped from weapon usage after they were forced to cast spells with a spellbook and insta hit was removed.
