This explains a way to exploit this feature all the way up to the year of 2001 for sure.http://www.uopowergamers.com/archives/arc0-2001.html wrote: For players without a GM Tinker, The Warriors' Guild crate room in Britain may be the best place to work this skill, although the spawn of traps has been SEVERELY reduced lately, either due to the number of people trying to work Remove Trap using spawn chests, or a possible nerf by OSI. If only 1 or 2 traps spawn on your shard (or the traps are constantly absent due to Remove Trap trainees), you may have to rely on GM tinker traps. Using tinker traps is simple: get 120-125 GM dart traps, load them into a crate, and lock the crate down in your house. Destroy the crate with an axe. You now have 125 traps on a single tile to practice on. Please note that this WILL work in your own house, as long as the traps have been enabled and locked down by a character other than your Faction Scout. So, make the traps with your Tinker, enable them, lock them down, then log the Tinker out and log the Scout in. Presto - you get gain off the pile.
Carpet bombing, should there be limits to this?

I sent this to Felix and Derrick last night in the form of a quote but it was rather large and might possibly not have been sent...

box breaking is era accurate. I have used it for space saving reasons when I couldnt stack it in a house but never seen it used as a weapon...lol I dont understand how one is to "lazy" to ban them? Its a clever tactic and can be avoided if a player is not afk. I dont see any reason to change it.

You can't ban someone who randomly runs by your house when you're gone and drops a full crate of candlebras on your doorstep.Zorce wrote:box breaking is era accurate. Re: Carpet bombing, should there be limits to this?
This was certainly a in era mechanic (although i dont know the extend of how many items you can drop on 1 tile).
We would fight house hiders with stealthers this way on OSI. If a warring guild member would try to run out and cast ev or something and run back into his house with a ban macro we would simply have a guildie stealth up and drop/smash a box in his doorway when he was outside.
I can probably even dig up some pics of this as it was usually very very funny.
You know how to stop it? Dont give people a reason to grief you.... i know thats a crazy concept felix.

I think this should be the main emphasis on the thread, there should be no talk about the axing feature being removed that's no fun.Hoots wrote:(although i dont know the extend of how many items you can drop on 1 tile)

Personally I find this to be a hilarious griefing tactic since its not happening to me.
If it causes server stability issues however then there needs to be a limit on it. If it doesn't, leave it alone.

You can only place so many items in a container. If how many items per tile was limited, where would the extra crap go? vanish? If this happens I hope there is a proper announcement so wanted items are not lost when doing this trick for positive reasons.princesspeach wrote:I think this should be the main emphasis on the thread, there should be no talk about the axing feature being removed that's no fun.Hoots wrote:(although i dont know the extend of how many items you can drop on 1 tile)
Constantly fixing things like this, beat the fun out of playing. There are already a few era accurate bugs fixed that I think should have been left and have taken some fun out of my playing.

Back to the box bomb, worse case scenario you have to clean up....lol wow that's harsh. and with razor its not even a big deal to do. I dont care what anyone says, its creative and fun to read about.

If someone has more than a few hundred items on a single tile like this, I question the legitimacy of purpose. What are you really trying to accomplish with 500, 1000, or more items on a single z-level on a single tile?Zorce wrote:You can only place so many items in a container. Go buy another house, apparently you can afford it.

you are trying to grief someone. Its not illegal.Teg wrote: If someone has more than a few hundred items on a single tile like this, I question the legitimacy of purpose. What are you really trying to accomplish with 500, 1000, or more items on a single z-level on a single tile?
Honestly, the fact the felix has brought this up just cries of irony.
But, the number of items per tile should probably be disccused. 125 items is more than enough to grief people with.
I just have no idea what was possible on OSI as we typically onle chopped 1 box or 2 if we needed to block 2 doors (side x side)
Re: Carpet bombing, should there be limits to this?
There is no apparent limit to the amount of items per tile in the demo, I have put over 150 on the same tile personally.

"Legitimate" and "legal" are not always synonyms, I was being imprecise.Hoots wrote:you are trying to grief someone. The person I was replying to referred to "positive" uses. I do not consider this a "positive" use.

You know with numerous threads about stacking animals on a single tile for parry gains or whatever I thought it was okay to do as long as you weren't afk resource gathering.
So you cant even keep your tames in a safe spot on one tile locked in then?
I mean what if it is within reason like penning a couple dragons in to train vet or keeping them convienently in your house to use later?

This is fine to do. Animals will decay in 20 hours in a house if not targetedarchaicsubrosa77 wrote:You know with numerous threads about stacking animals on a single tile for parry gains or whatever I thought it was okay to do as long as you weren't afk resource gathering.
