I finally wised up and loaded the UO Client and Razor on my laptop which is like 6 years old and low and behold I can play OK. I'ts a pain but I can play....but I digress.
I promptly made a miner to start working up my blacksmith and I've noticed a few things I think aren't necessarily age-specific.
First is line-of-site necessity for mining. I played OSI for 5 years spanning pre-2nd age through Ren, playing craftsmen and bards so this is familiar territory to me. As I recall line-of-sit was not necessary to mine. I can remember mining North of Brit, not in the mine, but in the two cul-de-sacs and mapping veins fo color. There were High veins up and low veins close to the ground, and all could be worked. You did not neessarily have to see a vein to strike it. This was well befoe macroing was opular and I literally spent hours mining these areas for ore, and mining the country side mapping for blue and green veins. Does anyone else rmemeber eing able to mine high up the muntain side even though you were still on the ground?
Also, I'm retty sure when you were overweight items fll to the ground. I don't ever remember getting a message that resources were simply "lost" because you were over weight. I remember they got ejected and in response OSI patched it so that decay time increased because people would macro until they had a huge pile then hopscotch it to a smlter.
Keep up the good work guys, hope someone remembers these things as I do...
Couple of mining observations
Re: Couple of mining observations
sounds about right. and I know line of sight wasn't necessary because I use to mine through the britain inn walls - I don't know if you can do that on this shard or not.. haven't played a miner for ages

Re: Couple of mining observations
I havent mined here, yet. The line of sight thing was true but I think it was changed possibly mid t2a. Now the overweight thing is a fact, because I use to boat mine like a mother fucker during T2A and I would wake up with a stack of 3432423423423432 ore at my feet.
Re: Couple of mining observations
I too remember being able to mine more locations.
Re: Couple of mining observations
Aye, that's right. Ore did fall to the ground. We'll get that fixed right away.
It's been a struggle to get the ore locations correctly targetable. It's an issue with RunUO that we've been trying to overcome. I'll work on this as well.
Thanks Edie, great to see you got ingame!

Re: Couple of mining observations
The mining LOS issue was tweaked and the issue with losing ore with a full pack was fixed in this mornings patch.
Thanks again for bringing this to our attention.
