Solved the NO_MEMCOPY problem on my PC, wanted to share

Post by McValdemar »

Hi everyone.
I've got a PC with XP pro all patched and updated with .net framework 3.5.
Followed the instructions and downloaded the client and razor.

Installed the client, runned the "patcher to 5.0.83" but had serious problems with Razor.

It was giving alot of "cliloc" errors then the infamous NO_MEMCOPY problem and I was unable to create an account and to log.

I discovered that the patcher, even if he lurks and finds the Ultima Online installation directory, SEEMS TO NOT PATCH if you have installed in a directory different from "Program Files".

Since my regional settings are italian, it was installed under "Programmi".
And I guess that under Vista or for other languages the problem is the same.

I want to specify that the patcher says that finds the client under "Programmi" but the patching didn't take effect.

How I solved?
I copied the patch5.0.8.3.exe in the same directory where I installed the client and runned the exe there.
He immadiately found the client and finally the patching took effect.

After updating this way Razor didn't meet anymore cliloc problems and no longer NO_MEMCOPY.

My suggestion is to update the client/forum/site instructions and force people to copy the patcher inside the directory where they install the client.
And run it from there.

I guess this would solve many of the problems I read on the forum.
Cheers
