Magically Forged Items!

Post by VoP Denizen »

Notice to all citizens of Sosaria!
The rumors are true! Paws has acquired a magically imbued forge similar to those used by King Brit to forge the arms of his very own royal guard. Paws, can now now forge magical weapons, armor, and jewelry!

The forge was recovered after a botched attempt to dismantle it. When the forge was first returned to Paws, it was by no means in working condition. However, our renowned resident smith, Argon the Dwarf, managed to rekindle the forge into a somewhat working condition.

Beware, due to the poor state in which the forge was found, Argon can no longer guarantee what type of weapon the forge will produce. However, he was able to tamper with it and found that with a sufficient amount of gems he can ensure that the items will not be cursed!

If you would like to have see one of these magically forged items bring your gems to Paws and we can forge them right before your eyes!

Notice: if you wish to have a magically forged weapon or item all you need to do is bring the following items to Paws

- Gems (the more gems you bring and the better quality will ensure a stronger magically imbuing)

- a Grandmaster made weapon or item that you wish to imbue (if you don't have a GM weapon you can purchase one from Argon in the village).

- additional bartering items (gold, boards, or ingots). Dwarves don't work for free!

This system will be based on YOUR luck at the dice cup and how much you bring to Argon or his assistant. There will be several different levels of "creation". More details to come.

We thought it would be fitting to provide an updated report regarding what Argon the Dwarf has done in order to restore this magical forge to a functional state. We hope this report will help you better understand the need to bring the above mentioned items.

At first, no matter how much lumber he placed in the forge, Argon could not initially get the flames to rise. However, as a matter of complete accident, a bag of fool's gold was accidentally dropped into the forge. This caused the flames to rise a little, but since it was fool's gold it wasn't quite enough. He knew only the real stuff would be sufficient.

After getting the flames to rise, the next problem he encountered is that the forge consumed almost every broken weapon he tested. The solution he found to this second puzzle is that only grandmaster crafted weapons that have never been used even stand a chance to withstand the flames.

Lastly, now that he was able to use the forge without consuming weapons, he was baffled that each weapon became cursed, and completely useless. Argon left to tell Zoltan to be rid of the cursed forge, when again as a coincidental turn of events, Taran - Argon newly hired apprentice - dropped his bag of gems and his favorite dice into the forge. To Taran's dismay, the gems were consumed almost instantly, yet his favorite dice had somehow been saved by the cup. He tried to pull cup and dice from the forge, but found he could not; the dice were now curiously and inextricably connected with the forge. When Argon returned he noticed something was different. After several lavish bashings over Taran's head, Argon finally learned what had happened, and found that despite his apprentice's clumsiness the solution had been found. Argon could now use the forge to craft magical items at will. Though he could not always guarantee the precise nature of the weapon, nor even if the same weapon would come out of the flames...

If this isn't as clear as day to you, here is what you need to bring in order to obtain a magically forged weapon:
- A decent supply of gems to ensure your blade is not cursed. (2 minimum, but more can only help)
- Gold to heat the forge (500 gold minimum, but more can only help)
- A grandmaster crafted weapon or armor piece to withstand the heat
- A dash of luck!

What you will get is:
Based on the Grandmaster type weapon provided you will receive a weapon of the same CLASS. This means if you bring a swordsmanship weapon, you will get a swordsmanship weapon in return, but not necessarily the same exact one. (i.e. if you bring a gm katana the forge might create a magical cutlass back or a magical halberd or bardiche, etc. If you bring a GM Kryss you might get a magical spear, or short spear, etc. if you bring a GM chain chest piece, you may receive a magical Ringmail chest piece.)

PLEASE BE ADVISED: As of yet Argon has not been able to use the forge in any way to make magical arrows or staves. The flames of the forge seem to have NO affect on items made from trees.

We hope to see you come and make use of this forge. It is truly miraculous to behold!
