The Iduali phrasebook

Post by chainsoar »

Most of this is in the recruitment post, but I'll keep this here for ease of access, and for reference if and when any changes/additions occur. The language is still evolving a little in some places, perhaps becoming more complex in the future.

The language is known as 'chakobsa'
subakh - hello
suuba - goodbye
shoka - thank you

yah - yes
ne - no
akrab - scorpion
ankab - spider
anash - snake
shai-hulud - earth elemental (Shai-Hulud also refers to the Iduali god)

yali - house
kala - desert
chukka - meat/food
chaumas - poison
ichwan - savage ('ichwan' is to a savage what 'uruk' is to a bloodrock orc)
sietch - village (our sietch is named 'Jacurutu')
chouha - fight
shari-ha - ritual
tahaddi - fight to the death (duel)

wali - a young savage
chouhada - warrior
fedaykin - veteran warrior

maaji - mage
sayyadina - shaman/advanced mage

naib - chief

maula - slave
nefij - outsider/non-savage
More advanced members may wish to work some more complex phrases into conversation, some examples are as follows - this list may be updated in the future -
iday alakrab - 'hands of the scorpion', a poisoned weapon, or a truly merciless killer
kull wahad - an exclamation of surprise, used to convey profound awe
lisan al-gaib - a prophet. This phrase could potentially be used as part of a future event
You are by no means compelled to use these advanced phrases regularly, but be aware some older savages may use them from time to time, so try to remember what they mean.
