1999-05-25, Tinkering have the new menu. people ask for it to come to blacksmith but at the same time dont like that it takes over the screen.

1999-12-10, the following was published: The [exceptional] tag will be removed and replaced with a new system of marking exceptional items. As an example, an exceptional katana made by a non-Grandmaster smith or made by a Grandmaster smith who chooses not to put his makers mark, will now say, “a katana of exceptional quality”. An exceptional katana made by a Grandmaster smith who chooses to place his maker’s mark on it will say, “a katana crafted with exceptional quality by…” This will be true for all exceptional items.

This site lasted edited 2001 (we dont know if edit note is true) but anyway it have crafting images with the grey backround and without markers mark button.

There are certainly players around who think that being able to choose whether or not to affix a maker's mark is T2A. All I know is:
  • You can't here. At least, I don't know how.
Casting Incognito changes your marker's mark on already crafted items.
Items crafted while incognito show your fake name, but revert when your name changes.
Your last link should be http://www.oocities.org/uo_James/Blacksmithy.html

On an unrelated note, I didn't know that geocities was archived. This is great stuff!

I did solve the issue. That was a menu from made for UOR but got replaced fast as people complaint over they could not see the area under the menu.

The Tinkers menu seems to been released in end of T2A but was rejected after some weeks.

This is the OSI explain of how Blacksmith manu works in T2A era.

BLACKSMITHY
Associated Professional Title: Smith
Main Statistic Used: Strength
Supplemental Statistic Used: none
Skill Use: Item Usage
Trained By: Armourer, Blacksmith, Blacksmith Guildmaster, Weaponsmith

Description:
Blacksmithing is used to create or repair various types of weapons and armor. These items or services can be used for yourself, or can be sold to other players.

Crafting an item:
You must be near a forge to create or repair an item. Double clicking on the tongs or smiths hammer will bring up a window displaying the different types of items you can make depending on your skill level. Simply double-click on the category you desire, double-click the item you wish to make, target the ingots you wish to use, and if you are successful the item will appear in your pack. As your skill level increases, the number and types of items available to you will increase.

Repairing an item:
You can also repair items with the blacksmithy skill. Again double-click on the tongs or hammer and select the anvil in this menu. Then place the targeting cursor over the item you wish to repair. Click on the item and if you are successful the item will be repaired. Keep in mind that a failed attempt can damage the item further.

Exceptional items and colored ore:
A Grand Master Smith has the chance to make 'Exceptional' items. These items will be more 'powerful' in their respective uses, and will carry a 'makers mark' to identify the smith that crafted the item. There are various types of ore in the world including the more rarely found colored ore. The colored ore requires a higher level of skill to be able to mine, smelt, and smith. Mining and smelting this colored ore requires a higher level of skill in mining, and crafting the colored ore requires a higher level of blacksmithy skill. The skill level required varies directly with the rarity of the ore. (please see the mining skill section for additional information on colored ore)

Common Complementary Skills:
Mining - Use a pick or shovel on a mountainside or cave wall.
Arms lore - Use skill on armour/weapons.

And this is the UOR menu instruction that my privus post is about.

If successful, the crafted item appears in your backpack. You may create multiple copies of the same item by clicking the box labeled ?Make Last? in your blacksmith menu.
Note At a high level of skill, you may create exceptional items and mark them with a maker?s mark identifying you as the creator of the item. The default setting for maker?s marks prompt you each time you make an item of this quality. You may change this setting by double-clicking your hammer and clicking the blue gem in your blacksmith menu.

Stand near a forge and anvil.
Double-click your smith?s hammer or sledge hammer.
Click the box marked ?Repair Item? in your blacksmith menu.

If successful, you repair the item. The degree of repair is dependent on your Blacksmithing skill. Repairing items requires ingots, so be sure you have a few ready in your backpack.

Smelting Items
Tired of your old armor Smelt it back to ingots! To smelt an item back to ingots
Stand near a forge and anvil.
Double-click your smith?s hammer or sledge hammer.
Click the box marked ?Smelt Item? in your blacksmith menu.

The amount of ingots smelted from an item is dependent on your Mining skill level, the condition of the item being smelted, and the type of metal used to create the item. For more information on smelting, see the Mining skill.

Rare Metals

There are various types of metal found in Britannia, some quite rare. These metals may be smelted to ingots and used to create colored items. As these metals are rare, they may require a greater skill in Blacksmithing to understand and manipulate the ingots into fine crafted items.
