Re: Things from other eras you wish were in T2A.
Pretty much nothing. That's why I play T2A. Pretty much every change since then has been a bad one. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for having a wide variety of viable templates to make the game more interesting. But the way OSI made more templates viable required drastic changes that were always negati...

Re: Deposit xxx to a banker
Have you tried just "Deposit xxx?" You don't need the banker's name. You don't say "[name] bank" or "[name] withdraw" so why would you say "[name] deposit?"

Re: Anti-virus/firewall suggestions...
Some good tips here. I hadn't thought about using an admin account for everything, and that bit me in the ass a year or two ago. The computer in question came with Vista, and I had to run some things (including UO, I think) as administrator to make them work right, so I always used an admin account....

Re: Dark nights is *no joke*
Yeah, UO was never that dark. Dungeons were darker than mainland nights IIRC, but not quite that dark. By default, you are correct that UO was not that dark. However, it could be made that dark easily. I think OP was takling about how night time was darker on OSI. I have found plenty of evidence fo...

Re: Bloody Ethics: It's not a game, it's a world
I don't know about all that, Eveee. The fact that we're still playing (or even discussing) this game 15 years later is proof enough that it's not a normal game, but more of a world. It's so immersive, it's easy to become your character and build a whole virtual life around it. For the right people, ...

They're all in Delucia now. Probably because they're all tamers and they're all lazy.

Re: Ideal stats for Hally Mage
Trust me spread stat is how they fight on [UOGamers] Hybrid...and even though Hybrid is commercial and gimmicky you learn new ways to fight so you can get back to core here... You can't go by Hybrid stats when you're talking about T2A. I wrote the book on playing a tank on Hybrid and stats are used...

I'm not a huge fan of it, but it definitely is era-accurate.

Re: Shadow Item Count Optimization:
I was just thinking of something similar. I know the staff already has something in the works that blows alll of our uninformed suggestions away, but it's still fun to speculate. So the thought is this: if it ain't changed, don't save it. There's no need to update the data for a given player mobile ...

I used to know the formula for mana regen rate, but I can't recall it at the moment. And I don't recall when it was changed... I may have to do some digging later. What I do remember is that according to the formula I used to know, 1 point of int was a bigger factor in your mana regen rate than 1 po...

Re: UOSA FTW?
I came from Hybrid as well. I still have accounts there and refresh my house but I haven't actually put any playtime in in a while. The pickings are pretty slim for a solo PK and the consent PvP is dominated by purple potions, which isn't fun at all. So I decided that when I came back from my most r...

Re: Truths about this Era - The Way it Was
Good post Gwartham. I only really question one point, and that's about dexers not being anything to fear. I never played a dexer either, but not because they weren't effective. I just didn't find "double click and follow" to be fun. But there were good dexers, and good players could be ext...

They definitely saved more then once every 24 hours....... This. The servers were relatively unstable back then and would crash periodically. They were also brought down for emergency maintenance and rolled back once in a while when a particularly bad bug was exploited. This happened at various tim...

Re: Item Certificates
I like it. I don't think the world save times are inordinate and this sounds like it might take some serious dev time and testing. In other words, I wouldn't make it a top priority. But as a rough idea, it's good. While we're on the subject, how did OSI do it? They never had to pause the game to sav...

Re: On PK etiquette, from a new player: a little harsher, pl
That's really not very cohesive. First of all, as a PK, why am I gonna carry around a town rune? So I can accidentally click on it and die instantly in deep stat? If you already have the rune on you, I'll consider it. But at larger issue is how you expect to be treated. Either a PK is going to be ni...
