A tale recorded by Degamra[/collapse]

Jupiter awoke in with a start. He looked around to see the familiar Lyceaeum walls. He failed to recollect just how he got there, but oft was the case of late. His memory was growing shorter with each cycle of the moon. Twas almost time… almost, but not yet!

As he was mulling about he heard a bustle by the main portal to Moonglow. Many of the folks of outskirts of Verity Isle were using their long saved and meager fortunes to head to the main city – and it was a hefty price. Normally the use of the portal was reserved only for the most favored of Sosarians.

“What is this that stirs everyone’s interest?” Jupiter asked to the entire crowd.

The jaw of the man next to him dropped with a look up sheer shock “IT’S HIM! HE’S HERE! JUPITER THE CHALLENGER IS HERE!”

The crowd quickly turned from their queue in the portals and began flocking towards him. Shrugging and stepping through the quickly amassed throng Jupiter questioned further “What is the meaning of this? I’ve not made any challenge. Now be out of my way I must return to the Mage Tower.”

Just then as he turned around dodging the hands grabbing at his robes, he looked down to mark his step and there met eyes with a small Veritian sprout. “Oh Mr. Jupiter, aren’t you going to face him? Mamma gave up our farm just to see this match.”

Crouching down, Jupiter rested his hands on the lad’s shoulders. “Well, we can’t go give up the farm for naught eh?” Looking around to the crowd and with a small look of embarrassment Jupiter called out “Now does anybody know where I am to meet my opponent?”

Silence.

“You mean, you don’t know?” “He doesn’t know?” “How could he not know? That place is wretched” “Didn’t he know when he accepted the challenge?” The whispers grew rapidly until he could piece together their hushed references.

Covetous.

He’d committed to stranger things, but he usually at least knew what the challenge was. Looking to the crowd he raised his hands and hushed their murmurs “I go now, to face dangers I know not how treacherous. But be sure of this, I shall prevail!” and he turned and stepped into the portal towards the unknown….

Thank you Nadia!

To their great discredit, the PK's actually didn't show up until halfway through Act II !!

We were able to finish our first game with nary a threat (aside from the Lich's which Roz handled quite capably)

This is one of those rare occasions when I think to myself "I would not have pked those guys". Way too awesome, I would've climbed off my mount in stat and honoured thee.

I've actually found that most of the murderous scoundrels that prowel the halls of Covetous have a certain sense of honor about them. As much as can be found among such knaves, of course. I have had more than one run in with their like in that same area, and they were always courteous enough to revive me afterwards, and they typically left my belongings more or less intact.

It was definitely a refreshing break from the normal smash and grab types.
