Wish server was more old school than it's now. These events just remind me of other lame games. They should be removed. UO was about pvp, town pvp, and fear of murderers if you go out of town. First things I thought was wtf... why can't I take casting damage in town? Towns are usually ghost towns. Everyone sits at events. Remove the murderer gimp. Bring back casting in town. I miss town fighting, guild wars, order/chaos, factions. Just my 2 cents.

Stat loss is part of the system for a reason buddy.
Spell damage in town is off due to accuracy. Anyone who played during the era found ways to get around it. Many tank mages still fought in town, and also many people went to Bucs for this very reason.
Factions? Are you kidding me? You're way off your rocker for that comment!

Re: Opinion
Factions is out of era so that one is no...
Spell Damage is town was part of T2A, but majority of T2A didn't have spell damage working in towns if I remember right ...
I do wish there was more pvp available during event off-times, but really can't do much about that because a lot of it has to do with the current playerbase. Peaked at 410 Clients tonight, but we have a lot of Event Specialists that don't do anything but show up for those or log on when their whole guild is on. I wish Order/Chaos and Guild wars were more active ....
One of the most fun times I had in UO was checking each town with a few of my guildies looking for oranges ... Beserk in Moonglow, O*C in Ocllo, TSG in Britain/Trinsic, Sooky Sooky in Ocllo/Bucs, Regulators in Minoc etc ... wish I could do that here ...

Re: Opinion
Just a couple of notes about what's been said so far:
1. Factions is an out of era system that was brought in at the end of 2000.
2. No spell damage in town was put in place during the 3rd patch to UO back in 97.
3. Murders were punished with stat loss for their actions starting in late 97.
4. The events, while inaccurate, provide players of the shard something to bring them together with these lower population numbers. Events may be done away with when our player count gets much higher (don't quote me on that as anything certain).
5. UO was not specifically about PvP and murdering. It was a game that allowed you to do whatever you wanted, provided you understood and were willing to accept the risks of whatever it is that you wanted to do.

Re: Opinion
There are plenty of O/C fights. Just ask PETA.

PETA lost some mounts, and loot from being afk. Shame shame. Next time don't res kill.Red wrote:There are plenty of O/C fights. Just ask PETA.
Re: Opinion
I guess I just miss the town fighting aspect of the game. It's easier to be red, and pvp anyone you run into vs. being order/chaos, and find someone outside of town, who isn't locked in a house. Pvp in general is scarce. I blame events, lack of magery in towns, and this era.

Re: Opinion
Order/Chaos here don't fight eachother. The shard is too small with too many friends/alliances that order and chaos work together, and chaos fights chaos vice versa... for the most part. I proposed to bring back the war between the two factions to make it so you cannot heal other chaos if you're order and vice versa and a couple other things along those lines but it was shot down for era accuracy. Just like the rares spawn timer though, things need to be changed a little to brng back the era accurate play so it actually feels like you're playing in 1999

Re: Opinion
Its player mentality Flash ... mechanics can be there, but players have evolved ...
I'd like to see something done to provoke more orange fighting ... and like guilds vs guild, order vs chaos etc ... but i don't have the answer within accuracy

Re: Opinion
Order/Chaos tamers kill the action more so than blue healers.
Re: Opinion
If you want to see more PvP then it's going to come down to the community organizing PvP events. It'll also help to have the staff run PvP events other than what is scheduled but it'll largely come down to a community effort.
To encourage more Order/Chaos warring there are a few options that can be within the constraints of era accuracy.
1) Ranking/ladder system. Kills would have to be submitted by screenshots and tracked by the community. The leading guild would receive a reward (can be from the current trophy system) while the leading faction (Order or Chaos) would receive some lesser reward (a lesser trophy for example). These rewards would be processed every month and the rankings reset.
2) Stronghold control system. Housing would change hands between the guilds based on who was leading in kills.
I'm sure there's other things that can be done to stimulate Order/Chaos interactions. A lot of it however will come from the community since there is a limit to how much the staff can organize in that regard.

Re: Opinion
I can't see this ever flying.. Too difficult to track like that, too difficult to code, too non-accuracte, and also too easy to exploit kills with friends/alts.

Then what do you suggest? Don't shoot down ideas if you have none of your own or no suggestions of how to make it work.
