Well if you take a look at UO's very first patch in history it has a patch note that says this below which should clarify this for you.
- Horses that run out of loyalty now buck you off and run away.

Let me guess, you must be from all the imitation, mountless "T2A" servers. Welcome to the real deal.

both servers have inflated #'s because of how many accounts everyone can have.

However if you join IRC you can see how many people are actually playing on SecondAge (IPs), which is something UOGamers (all the servers) always try and hide the fact. They let you use 4 accounts and they encourage you to stay logged in on 4 accts (and they even have events to get as many people logged in on time via "l33t item hand-outs" -> only difference with Divinity is that they aren't neon items, just named)

It's also 3 accounts here. Do the math, divinity's population highest= 200/4= 50 people on at there peek. Wow, good luck i guess. UOsecondage age peeks at 420+ at night. 420/3= 140 people on at least at peek. 3x the population, have fun divinity, if you can find someone to interact with of course.

We keep our client based charts up for the public to see our population base unlike some other shards that take them down because they're losing people in mass.

i am one that always admits when i am wrong. So i stand corrected that divinity is dead.(not only that but the staff there is doing their best to ruin the shard)

i joined both UOSA and Divinity to see which shard was run better. The only thing that had me leaning towards divinity was the no mounts...it's something ive always liked.

but i can't deny UOSA is better run and just a better shard

Welcome to Second Age Moriarti!

This topic is intriguing because you're not the first one to have asked this question. Not only were there mountable horses prior to T2A, but the T2A release introduced ridable llamas, ostards, and nightmares as new mounts. Memories fade after 10 years of custom freesharding, even the most solid features of the era if undocumented are constantly debated, and happily so, as we can only get this thing right as a collaboration of everyone who loved this era.
