cant be used currently

all the previous threads about coal armour went something like this

all the 'coal' from Christmas 97 changed from 'coal' to 'ore' at the introduction of the colour ore/ingots. After this point all 'coal ore' was able to be smelted into igs and crafted into armour. So no 'coal' was never able to be smelted, but after it changed to 'ore' it was able to be

thats all pulled from other threads, i duno

I had a stack of black ore that just was called "iron ore" long before the colored ore changes were put in.

Hmm. I seem to remember it being darker, but maybe thats because I had a lighter shadow ore to compare it to.

Coal is a darker hue than shadow, although I don't agree that coal should be smeltable.

a) Coal has never smeltable on UOSA. This is intentional.
b) If this change happens, people will be taken advantage of.

A little off topic, but didn’t the vendors used to sell different colors of armor. I seem to remember running around to different vendors and piecing together matching suits. Was this before our target era?

Yes they sold different hued armor in T2A.

I honestly cant say for sure if it was around in November 1999 but its entirely possible.

Absolutely they did, Stratics (at least used to) have a guide on it. NPC plate and chain had I think 32 different hues that vendors sold.

Edit: Found it http://uo.stratics.com/content/arms-arm ... late.shtml

NPC Colored armour seems to have been available well into 2000.

May 5, 2000
Some of those NPC colors (which are still available from the NPCs) are
nicer IMHO than the newer player armor colors.

Nah, not duped (usually). Npcs were selling a color VERY similar to the old
coal armor a couple months back. I know cause i got scammed :(

Bumping this. May want to add to the "little things" thread.

I think the NPC armor colors are at this point confirmed. The Coal armor is going to be a little bit more work.
