Nightmares
Nightmares
Is there a reason why the nightmare spawning location is incorrect for the era? They didn't spawn in Tkeep until Ren.

Unless anyone else posts some contradictary info on this we'll get it changed soon.Stratics wrote:Commonly Found: Forests in T2A South of Papua and at the Oasis in the northern desert.

Yeah, I'm 100% sure that's how it was.Derrick wrote:Bad info I guess.Onslaught wrote:Is there a reason why the nightmare spawning location is incorrect for the era? They didn't spawn in Tkeep until Ren.

That's how I made my first millions in that game. Happened to find an unblocked mare spawn in Oasis and sold 4 of them for a million each. When Ren was released a buddy and myself camped Tkeep for like 12 hours taming them and selling them.
This wasn't something I'd forget

Just don't make it so people can block the spawn imo.
Also, while we're on the subject of pets, you might want to check white wyrm's too. I remember them mass cursing and looting bodies for you. Used to have to use the "all drop" command to get them to drop their looted shit. The thing was, you couldn't use more than one of them at a time unless you wanted to spend most of your farming time trying to break up your dragons from killing the white wyrm because mass curse was in his spell rotation.
I'm not 100% on this one but I believe it was the T2A era when they mass cursed.

Re: Nightmares
I doubt you'll find anyone who wants to have to tame Nightmares in that spot, =P.
Re: Nightmares
In T2A nightmares were elusive and actually tough to find. Actually made it fun hunting them.Lothain wrote:I doubt you'll find anyone who wants to have to tame Nightmares in that spot, =P.

Re: Nightmares
I see! That's exciting. Also, I noticed on the link that it said they cast up to eight level and can do 50-60 firebreath damage. In my experience on this shard, they only cast up to lvl 5 (mind blast) and do maybe 30-40 fire breath damage. Will this be changed?

Interesting. We'll look into this.Onslaught wrote: Also, while we're on the subject of pets, you might want to check white wyrm's too. I remember them mass cursing and looting bodies for you. I can't answer that but I'll look into that too. Which 8th circle spell would Mares cast?Lothain wrote:I see! That's exciting. EV?

Re: Nightmares
Nightmares have never done 50-60 damage fireballs. That's a dragon, not a nightmare.Lothain wrote:I see! That's exciting. Re: Nightmares
so will there be no way of telling exactly where nightmares spawn?, will the spawn area be a very large portion of the T2A forests?
That'd be cool, find them and sell the information on their location.

Re: Nightmares
It won't be that bad. There was only like 5 locations where a nightmare could spawn on OSI servers but back then you couldn't mark runes or recall in T2A. So being able to just recall to each of the 5 locations here will make it a bit easier.Alex21 wrote:so will there be no way of telling exactly where nightmares spawn?, will the spawn area be a very large portion of the T2A forests?

There could only be one nightmare on the server at a time and that's how people blocked the spawn. They'd tame a nightmare and stable it in T2A. The server still saw a nightmare in T2A so it wouldn't spawn another.

Re: Nightmares
i would enjoy having to track them down, add some value to the info of where they are.Onslaught wrote:It won't be that bad. Re: Nightmares
I only mentioned the firebreath Onslaught because it was in the link you posted!
Also, by blocking the spawn by stabling in t2a, I suppose that requires stables be separate as they are not here? Be interesting to find some sources on that.

Re: Nightmares
In this era stables were seperate and had no limit. You could stable 15 dragons in Papua and say "claim" in Britain and you wouldn't see any dragons. To block the spawn I think it had to do with servers and since this shard is one server instead of a bunch of different servers, it wouldn't work. I could be wrong tho.Lothain wrote:I only mentioned the firebreath Onslaught because it was in the link you posted!

Also, in this era Drakes weren't the 84ish taming they require now. They required more taming than a dragon for some absurd reason. Thinking 94.7 but I can't remember exactly.

Re: Nightmares
There was no per person limit, but each stable had a total number of slots it could accomodate. We do intend to implement this eventually.Onslaught wrote:Lothain wrote:In this era stables were seperate and had no limit.
